A Dream about Politics, Democracy.

Many read,Many said ‘well written’, some offline, some here online. Thanks everyone.

And most importantly, very thoughtful readers have asked for the “solutions” for the same.

I ‘m putting down my solutions.Hope u think over it and add/modify, comment/criticize the ideas.

REMEMBER: “A ROLLING DOWN SNOW FROM HILL TOP CAN GATHER HUGE MASS AS IT DESCENDS” and hence force and energy along with it. (I mean An Idea can really bring positive changes if the matter is dealt seriously)

Coming to crux of the matter…

Unless there is a strong, motivated, revolutionary Ideas which can bring a revolutionary storm across the country.. Spear-headed by top, capable personalities and guarded by supreme majesty “The Indian Law” the following ideas cannot be implemented as a solution. So initial steps are at the “top” levels.
1.A politician must be an educated fellow.

2. Politicians failing to execute their ‘promises’ should not be given a chance to participate STRICTLY.So in five yrs of span.. within initial 2-3 yrs all the “promises” should have laid their foundation plans and execution plans and submit the same to authority failing which they might consider the party members to face legal complications and sack them from the party (What is the use of having “talkative” politics?? unless the work is done.. he is equivalent to the radio in my grandpa’s house!)

3.SCREENING the candidates by a committee (non political) at the taluk level would help a lot in filtering the dummies. Screening on the basis of merits of social work, criminal record cleanliness.

4. Creating opportunities for the able ones:

High profile Engineers, Lawyers, judges, CEOs, NGO personnels,IAS/IPS/civil servants, Social reformers, media personnels should be offered a chance by govt. to participate and should be given a priority over the rest.

 IRONY!!

Top officials for IAS, IPS, IRS etc. are screened. They undergo very good training, they work hard to get there and they know every corner of the country.. the IRONY is..top of these top ones are politicians who come to power just because they are good players in creating vote banks. Is it really fair???

Answers are my point of views. Please comment and contribute to the idea.

Thanks.

very well written diganth….keep it up!
how many of iitians, how many of top academicians tend to choose politics as their carrier.nobody can generalize or conclude a reason behind that.everybody seeks for clean, efficient, intelligent govt. but hardly a single intelligent individual have any intention to become the govt.!…mass go on blaming the malfunction of the govt…but thats not really justified..coz each and everyone of a certain society is responsible in shaping their own govt.
Now its time to be conscious and make our present generation and the coming future generation aware of so called “politics”…you have really taken a good step!

did you attend last word @ engi? one thing RK misra said, which you might have heard about… he said make money, THEN you get into politics.
i’ve posted on that on my blog.
    1. you can’t have minimum qualifications and all, no? maybe you can ask for 12th pass, maximum. because in underdeveloped areas and all, people arent highly educated. And more than that, it is not like only the better educated people will make good administrators…
    2. some malicious elements and rival politicians can ensure that the work doesnt get done, and so the candidate loses his opportunity.
    3. 4…. i dont think anyone should regulate who can be a politician, who can be a leader APART FROM THE PEOPLE THEMSELVES.
so the best possible solution would be for the people to be educated, for the people to learn as much about the candidates as possible, ask them to make public their assets, their criminal record, and basically we should make all possible info about the candidates available.
people should use this information effectively (maybe they can use data mining and knowledge discovery) and then only make a choice as to who to elect. People should choose to elect qualified people like lawyers and doctors, not to forget engineers.
in a democracy, people deserve the government they elect.

you mentioned about irony… here is another bit of irony:
when an officer in the Indian Foreign Service is posted abroad, he undergoes all sorts of intense scrutiny. If he marries a person of foreign origin, he will have a large-scale enquiry into the matter of his marriage, and the spouse has to pass all sorts of screening.
But we had a PM who married an italian who kept her italian citizenship for eighteen years after marriage and living in india… and here, we are talking about the PM…. PM has access to the most confidential files possible, and his wife will have enormous power over him… just you imagine.
